Volunteers

Volunteers are an integral part of our team at HCA Houston Healthcare. They are committed members of the community who care about making a difference in the lives of others. By sharing their time and expertise, our dedicated volunteers help us deliver compassionate and high-quality care to our patients, families and visitors.

From working directly with patients to providing administrative support, we offer a wide array of volunteer opportunities to fit our volunteers’ schedules, abilities and interests.

Volunteer assignments may include:

• Clerical services
• Emergency department
• Guest ambassador roles at registration and information desks
• Greeter
• Golf cart chauffer
• Waiting or family room
• Wayfinding - walking patients/visitors to desired locations

Adult volunteer program

Our adult volunteer program generally requires a commitment of at least one 4-hour shift per business week for six months. Additionally, volunteers must:

• Complete and submit a volunteer application
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Successfully pass a criminal background check
• Attend a mandatory orientation

VolunTEEN program

Our VolunTeen program offers young adults the opportunity to build new skills and be a positive change in their communities. The VolunTEEN program runs during the summer months, typically beginning in June and ending in August.

VolunTEEN requirements:

• Complete and submit a volunteer application
• Must be between 15 and 17 years old
• Must be currently enrolled in school and in good standing

At HCA Houston Healthcare, volunteers are given assignments based on their preferences, experience and availability, as well as open hospital opportunities. Volunteer schedules and opportunities will vary by hospital.
