As HCA Houston Healthcare hospitals continue to respond to COVID-19 and the health of our communities, we have initiated the safe and deliberate return of medically necessary surgeries and procedures in accordance with Governor Abbott's updated Executive Order of Friday, April 17.
This decision is based on the careful review of supplies, equipment, personnel and capacity necessary to begin treating patients whose surgeries and procedures, such as cancer biopsies, were postponed.
All surgeries and procedures will be performed at the discretion of the patient's physician following guidelines established by Governor Abbott, the Texas Hospital Association and the Texas Medical Board. Moreover, patients will be tested for COVID-19, 48 hours before their procedures.
HCA Houston Healthcare is fully committed and prepared to care for those who have been patiently waiting for medically necessary surgeries and procedures, which, in many cases, can change and save a life.
