The highly skilled labor and delivery team at HCA Houston Healthcare West delivers almost 1,500 babies a year. Our obstetricians, board-certified neonatologists, nurses and anesthesiologists are available 24 hours a day to care for you and your baby.

We know that childbirth can be unpredictable. Our goal is to help you feel supported and comfortable throughout your labor and delivery experience.
Maternity care we provide
We are recognized by Healthgrades with the Labor and Delivery Excellence Award™ for superior clinical care of women during and after childbirth. Our facility has nine labor suites, 30 postpartum rooms and two VIP suites. We also offer extra amenities that are designed to improve your experience.
When you arrive to give birth at HCA Houston Healthcare West, you'll first be evaluated in one of our antepartum rooms. As the labor process approaches, you will be moved to one of our labor and delivery suites. This room will contain all necessary monitoring equipment while still maintaining a clean and comfy environment.
Though we are committed to helping mothers deliver vaginally, two adjacent operating rooms are reserved for Cesarean delivery. We also offer comfortable postpartum rooms where you and your baby can bond and where lactation support is available. Our labor and delivery services include:
- Breastfeeding support
- Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Maternity classes and support groups
- Prenatal and postpartum physical therapy
After delivery, we perform initial check-ups. From there, you will be moved to a private postpartum room, and your baby will go to the nursery for further tests. Our lactation consultants are available to support both you and your baby and assist with the first feeding. For newborns who need specialized care, we have a Level II NICU.
Labor and delivery classes
We believe that prenatal education and support programs make a real difference in how women experience pregnancy and birth. Whether you're a first-time mom or an experienced parent, we encourage you to take advantage of our many and varied educational opportunities.
It's best to register during your fifth month of pregnancy. We provide a childbirth preparation and breastfeeding class to help prepare expectant mothers and their families for their newest family member.
Labor and delivery suites
Every woman who chooses HCA Houston Healthcare West receives personal and compassionate care. If you prefer luxury accommodations, the labor and delivery suites offer extra amenities not usually found in a hospital. These services include:
- Flat-screen televisions in both rooms
- Fresh flower arrangements
- Plush robes and superior linens
- Refrigerator stocked with bottled water and soft drinks, with one complimentary restock
- Room service, including a gourmet dinner
- Three complimentary meals per day for a guest
