HCA Houston Healthcare shines a light on prematurity awareness day
On World Prematurity Day, HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast facilities illuminated eight of its locations in purple to highlight the ongoing need for action to support preterm babies and their families.
Houston, TX – HCA Houston Healthcare recently joined a global initiative to raise awareness about the impact of preterm birth on Prematurity Awareness Day, November 17th. On World Prematurity Day, HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast facilities illuminated eight of its locations in purple to highlight the ongoing need for action to support preterm babies and their families.

By lighting up these facilities, HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division underscored the critical importance of awareness and the ongoing challenges of preterm birth. This effort was part of a broader initiative that involved landmarks and buildings worldwide coming together in purple to bring attention to the issue and drive conversation on the significance of supporting moms and babies.
As part of its ongoing commitment to maternal and infant health, HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division is a longtime partner of March of Dimes, working to improve the health outcomes of mothers and babies in our community. Yasmene McDaniel, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast, will take on the role of Chair for the 2025 March for Babies. Yasmene has already demonstrated her dedication to this cause, serving as Chair in 2024 and leading efforts that raised $354,863 for the organization’s mission. Her passion for women’s health continues to drive support for essential programs that support families facing the challenges of prematurity.
