If your newborn is sick or is born early, we will care for him or her in our Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in our childbirth center. HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball’s NICU is staffed 24/7 with board-certified neonatologists—physicians who are specially trained to care for preterm and ill babies.
To schedule a free tour of our childbirth center in Tomball, RSVP online or call (281) 401-7500.
We understand that it is overwhelming to learn that your newborn requires additional care in our NICU. However, your baby’s health is in expert hands at HCA Houston Tomball. In addition to neonatologists, our neonatal care team in Tomball, Texas includes neonatal nurses and support staff.
Visiting the NICU
You are also a major component of your baby’s care team, and we encourage families to be involved in your baby’s care and to hold, talk to and visit your baby in the NICU as often as your baby’s condition allows. Some babies may stay in our NICU for only a few hours, while other babies may spend weeks in our specialized care.
To promote the well-being of all babies in the NICU, we ask that visitors adhere to these NICU visitation guidelines:
- Visitors must be accompanied by a parent of the baby.
- Grandparents of the baby may visit alone, if listed on the approved visitation list.
- Please limit visitors to two-at-a-time.
- We ask that any visitor who is showing symptoms of a cold or illness does not enter the NICU.
