Jeanna Bamburg, FACHE
Chief executive officer
Jeanna Bamburg, CEO, has been a member of the HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast team for 20 years. Prior to working with HCA, Bamburg worked for other healthcare organizations and brings over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Over these years, she has acquired a strong knowledge of Southeast Harris County and is happy to have collaborative relationships with medical staff and employees of the Bayshore and East Houston campuses as well as key community leaders and stakeholders.
Bamburg received her Bachelor's Degree and MBA from the University of Houston, Clear Lake. She has achieved the level of Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves as President for the Southeast Texas Chapter. She is also a 2015 graduate of the Texas Hospital Association Leadership Fellows Class.
Bamburg has a strong history of community service. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the Pasadena Rotary Club and a member of the Board of Directors for the San Jacinto College Foundation.
Dr. Carl Vartian
Chief medical officer
Carl Vartian, MD, is the chief medical officer (CMO) at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake. He previously served as CMO at HCA Houston Healthcare West and HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast and as the HCA Gulf Coast Division (GCD) chief medical information officer. He joined the GCD’s executive team in 2008 after a 24-year career in private clinical practice specializing in infectious diseases.
Complementing his clinical expertise, Dr. Vartian holds a medical and healthcare management certificate from Rice University Jones Graduate School of Business and a physician leadership and management certificate from University of Houston-Clear Lake. In addition, Dr. he earned a master's degree in health informatics from The University of Texas School of Biomedical Informatics.
Dr. Vartian received his medical degree from the State University of New York-Downstate Medical School. He went on to complete an internal medicine residency at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital and an infectious disease fellowship at the University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.
Chief operating officer
Yasmene McDaniel serves as the chief operating officer (COO) at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast. In this role, she is responsible for supporting the hospital's cardiovascular and oncology service lines, the imaging and emergency departments and several freestanding emergency rooms. McDaniel will also be involved in hospital strategic planning, capital planning and physician relations.
Prior to joining HCA Houston Southeast, McDaniel served as the COO at Corpus Christi Medical Center (CCMC). During her tenure at CCMC, she grew the hospital's robotics program, oversaw the opening of ER 24/7 Rockport and supported trauma designations for multiple facilities.
She has also held several leadership positions with Sparks Health System in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Jackson Health System in Miami, Florida, and Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas.
McDaniel earned two master's degrees in business administration and healthcare administration from Texas Woman’s University and she has a bachelor of science degree from Baylor University.
Chief financial officer
Wayne Gordon joined HCA Houston Healthcare as chief financial officer in September 2017 and has also served as the Ethics and Compliance Officer since July 2018. Mr. Gordon has over thirty-five years of experience as a healthcare executive with multiple organizations in three states including fourteen years with HCA in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Wayne is a native of Vicksburg, MS, and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, and is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Chief nursing officer
Emily Weber serves as the chief nursing officer at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast. In this role, she oversees the nursing department and its patient care services and operations, regulatory standards and compliance.
Dr. Weber joined HCA Houston Southeast in 2019 as the assistant chief nursing officer. She previously served in various leadership roles at Texas Children's Hospital for nearly 20 years. She is passionate about providing patients with compassionate and high-quality care. Dr. Weber's leadership motto is, "Dream big, work hard and serve others."
She earned her doctor of nursing practice degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and her master's degree in nursing from Texas Woman's University. Dr. Weber is also nurse executive advanced board certified, which is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification.
