Childbirth education class

Come to learn about fundamentals of Labor and Childbirth. Childbirth classes help build your confidence in your body's ability to give birth. You can discuss your fears about labor and birth with the instructor and other couples with the same concerns. Your partner will also learn about childbirth and how to support you on the big day.

Your instructor will discuss pain relief options, including massage, relaxation, breathing techniques, and medications. A tour of your birthing facility after the class will give you the opportunity to see the staff in action. This is a great time to ask your instructor about routine practices, such as electronic fetal monitoring and freedom of movement during labor. Information for the included breastfeeding class that is presented every 3rd Tuesday following the birthing class will be discussed.

Breastfeeding basics

Breastfeeding classes assist new mothers in becoming aware of the benefits of breastfeeding to mother, baby, and the community. This class will provide a better understanding of previous misconceptions, and plant the foundation to a good start with breast feeding. Mothers and family will be taught infant hunger cues, positioning, and how milk production is maintained. Expectant mothers and family will learn what to expect if baby goes to NICU, reasons to call the pediatrician and/or the lactation consultant for feeding problems
