HCA Houston Healthcare West’s oncology program provides the West Houston community with quality cancer care and supportive programs for both patients and families who are impacted by cancer.

Our patients receive the best care from our expert team of medical, radiation and surgical oncologists, medical physicists, nurse navigators and other cancer specialists. They are dedicated to developing family-centered treatment plans, and the same team of professionals will care for the patient throughout his or her course of treatment. Our experienced nurse navigators serve as liaisons between patients and their medical caregivers, helping guide them through the treatment process.

The Sugar Land Cancer Center, Sugar Land Diagnostic Center and Solis Mammography, all departments of HCA Houston West, offer patients the latest cancer treatments, diagnostic imaging and advanced, patient-focused breast imaging services.

The Sugar Land Cancer Center has earned a reputation for its commitment and excellence in radiation oncology therapy, which can effectively treat cancers at various stages of the disease. In 2020, Sugar Land Cancer Center was the recipient of the Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award® for patient experience in radiation therapy. We are also accredited by the American College of Radiology as a radiation oncology facility and a designated Lung Cancer Screening Center.

Patients also have access to additional services including nutritional counseling, and when required, translators are available for most languages. Our patients also benefit from same-day appointments, first-rate personal attention and the latest advances in evidence-based cancer medicine.

New technology in cancer treatment has changed the way we approach radiation. We have equipment that allow us to provide patients with high quality cancer radiation therapy and to deliver precise and accurate treatment to tumors while sparing nearby healthy tissue.

Some of the advanced technologies we have include the on-board imager (OBI) and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), which take 3D, 360° CT scans of the tumor before therapy, allowing the patient to stay in one place for both imaging and treatment.

Image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) uses advanced imaging technology to monitor your cancer through all stages of your treatment. IGRT provides patients with better cancer treatment, more precise and effective radiation therapy and fewer side effects.

Another new technology in cancer treatment is volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), which allows for a faster treatment time and lower radiation dose. During treatment a linear accelerator rotates around you while continuously delivering the radiation dose pinpointed on the tumor. This new technology allows our radiation oncologists to see the tumor at the time of treatment and more control to deliver a carefully targeted dose to the tumor and not the surrounding healthy organs. Sugar Land Cancer Center is one of the few facilities in the area to offer this technology.

The wide bore CT simulator is one of the center’s newest technological upgrades. It helps oncologists quickly create three-dimensional maps of a tumor and the surrounding tissue.

At HCA Houston West and our freestanding cancer centers, we are dedicated to providing our patients and their families with supportive care throughout their cancer journey. If you are seeking cancer treatment or need a second opinion about treatment options, we invite you to make an appointment with one of our radiation or medical oncologists.
