- Sleep apnea
- Excessive sleepiness
- Restless leg syndrome

Sleep study at HCA Houston Kingwood
A sleep study, also known as polysomnography (PSG), is a way for sleep medicine specialists to diagnose sleep disorders. During the study, a sleep doctor measures your sleep cycles and stages by observing the patients’ breathing, blood oxygen level, heart rate, and arm/leg movements as they sleep.
While not all sleep studies require an overnight stay, but when you treatment does call for you to spend the night in the Sleep Center for Excellence, the team ensures patients feel comfortable, secure and in control of their environment. That is why we purposely designed our sleep center to make you feel like you are at home, with features including:
- Private room
- Private bathroom
- Personal phone
- Adjustable lighting
- Individual climate control
How are patients referred to the sleep center?
Your primary care physician can refer you to the Sleep Center of Excellence for a comprehensive consultation. This evaluation determines whether patients are scheduled overnight for further testing, although your primary care physician may also request day or nighttime tests be performed. All tests are performed on an outpatient basis.
Most insurance companies cover sleep disorder testing, but pre-authorization may be required. We will verify coverage and applicable fees before scheduling any overnight tests or procedures.
