Kingwood, TX - HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is pleased to announce the appointment of Adrian Moreno as the chief operating officer (COO) for HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood, effective Nov. 18, 2024. Moreno brings extensive experience and a proven track record in healthcare leadership, having most recently served as COO and ethics and compliance officer at HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball.

During his tenure at HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball, Moreno demonstrated remarkable leadership, achieving a significant EBITDA growth from 2021 to 2023. Under his guidance, the hospital implemented operational strategies that increased volume in elective surgery, joint and spine procedures and cardiovascular procedures. Additionally, he expanded the bariatric surgery program which led to the hospital’s Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) Comprehensive Center Accreditation.Accreditation

As the executive sponsor for the Orthopedic Joint and Spine Programs, Morendo drove substantial growth in total joint and orthopedic spine volume in 2024. His leadership in the cardiovascular service line also led to increased cardiac catheterization procedures, all while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality.

Moreno’s commitment to excellence is exemplified by his achievement of a zero percent surgical site infection (SSI) rate in 2023, along with a significant increase in employee engagement scores over a two-year period.

Prior to his role at HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball, Moreno served as assistant COO at HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood, leading initiatives such as a $40 million capital expansion and major hospital infrastructure upgrades. His background includes experience as the division director of project management within the HCA Gulf Coast Division and as a performance improvement manager at Ernst & Young LLP.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Moreno served as a battalion engineer operations officer during Operation Iraqi Freedom, which equipped him with exceptional leadership and crisis management skills for his healthcare role.

Moreno holds a master's degree in health care administration from Trinity University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is also a graduate of the HCA Executive Development Program and U.S. Army Ranger School.
