Pediatric care

Having access to expert pediatric care close to home is a priority for every parent. HCA Houston Healthcare offers facilities all over the Houston area, so your child is never far away from the care they need. We provide a number of specialized pediatric services, including access to our emergency rooms.

Choosing a pediatrician for your child is vital to ensure they receive their annual checkups, vaccinations and have a place to go for minor illnesses. If your child is admitted to an HCA Houston hospital, we work to inform your pediatrician about diagnosis and treatment plans so they can provide the necessary follow-up care for your child. We recommend that you choose a pediatrician for your child by the 35th week of pregnancy.

Pediatric specialties

When your child visits one of our hospitals, you can feel confident they have direct access to a wide range of specialty physicians trained in pediatric care. We offer pediatric care in the following specialties:

Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)

Pediatric care begins when your child is born. Some newborns may require care by one of our neonatologists directly following birth. At HCA Houston, our neonatal intensive care units offer the specialized equipment and staff your newborn needs. We have Level II, III and IV NICU facilities, so we can provide comprehensive newborn care.

Pediatric intensive care unit (PICU)

Our PICU facilities are designed to provide intensive care to children. Often, children do not have the same needs as adults, and our staff is specially trained to care for pediatric patients. We know that a hospital does not always feel like the most relaxed place to a child or parent. Our staff works hard to provide a comfortable environment for children and is trained in techniques to help put your child at ease.
