Musaddiq Waheed named chief medical officer at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast
A seasoned leader in hospital medicine, he possesses over 18 years of healthcare experience.
Houston, TX – HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast is pleased to announce Musaddiq Waheed, MD as chief medical officer for the hospital and affiliated sites of care, effective January 15, 2024.
Waheed most recently served as the Assistant Chief Medical Officer for HCA Houston Healthcare Pearland in Pearland, TX. A seasoned leader in hospital medicine, he possesses over 18 years of healthcare experience. Prior to his time with HCA Houston Healthcare, Waheed served as a regional medical director for Envision Healthcare in Houston, where he led significant improvements in quality outcomes and served as a champion of organizational readiness & transformation, change management, and culture work. He also held multiple hospital committee leadership positions, and was instrumental in driving the regional quality agenda and strategic plan for the organization. Waheed has held a multitude of leadership roles with both for profit and not for profit organizations.
Waheed earned his medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical College in his native Pakistan, followed by his residency in Family Medicine at Wheeling Hospital (now part of WVU Medicine). He also earned his Physician Executive MBA from Haslam School of Business at University of Tennessee in Knoxville before completing a fellowship in Quality and Safety from the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI). He then completed an Improvement Advisor Program with the IHI. Waheed is a certified professional in patient safety, a certified physician advisor, and is board certified in healthcare quality and management. He is a board member with the Quality Texas Foundation and serves as a regional Baldridge examiner.
