HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress is further enhancing its expertise with the launch of a new hypertension program specifically designed for patients whose blood pressure has not improved despite attempts to manage it.

High blood pressure is a leading cause of death in the U.S., and impacts nearly half of all adults. A major concern according to HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress physicians, is that about 1 in 5 U.S. adults with high blood pressure aren’t aware they have the condition.

“As we look to improve the way we treat patients with hypertension, HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress is utilizing the latest technological innovations that meet the needs of patients and physicians,” said Dr. Fadi F. Alameddine, Interventional Cardiologist. “For people with hypertension, medication and/or lifestyle changes can help reduce blood pressure, but studies have shown that many people still don’t have control over their condition. This procedure could help fill that gap to potentially provide a blood pressure reduction benefit that is ‘always on’ and doesn’t require a permanent implant.”

Hypertension is very common, affecting men and women, young and old. Symptoms, if they do occur, can be mild or severe, including early morning headaches, nosebleeds, irregular heartbeat, changes in vision, and buzzing in the ears. When a person has high blood pressure, their heart works harder, which can raise the risk of heart attacks, strokes, heart failure, and kidney failure.

“Our cardiovascular physicians are world-class care providers, and introducing this new program further demonstrates our focus on heart health,” says Jim Brown, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress. “This innovative program will bring both excellent, proven treatments and peace of mind to our patients.”
