Troy Villarreal

As president of HCA Healthcare’s Gulf Coast Division and HCA Houston Healthcare, Troy A. Villarreal is responsible for the management and operations of hospitals, emergency and surgical centers, and diagnostic facilities from Conroe to Texas City, as well as Houston to Corpus Christi and south Texas.

He was appointed to his current position in July 2016 after serving as chief executive officer of Medical City Dallas Hospital and chief executive officer at The Medical Center of Plano, both part of the HCA Healthcare system.

As president of HCA Healthcare’s Gulf Coast Division and HCA Houston Healthcare, Villarreal has been responsible for major facility upgrades, significant growth, and increased patient, physician and employee satisfaction at numerous HCA Healthcare hospitals.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas A&M University and master’s degrees in healthcare administration and business administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the UHCL Healthcare Administration Executive Advisory Board, the Texas Hospital Association’s Council on Policy Development Board and the Greater Houston Partnership Board.

Villarreal is a graduate of Leadership Plano Class 27, having served on the organization’s executive committee board, strategic planning committee and alumni committee. He also served as campaign cabinet chair for the Plano Chamber of Commerce and as an advisory board member of the United Way of Greater Dallas.

Evan Ray, FACHE

Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer

Evan Ray

Evan Ray, FACHE, has served as the executive vice president and chief administrative officer of HCA Healthcare’s Gulf Coast Division and HCA Houston Healthcare since April 2019. In his role, Ray focuses on expanding HCA Houston Healthcare’s service footprint with an integrated approach to network access, regional outreach, hospital operations and strategic planning. His scope of responsibility supports quality, service, and growth goals spanning hospital operations, ambulatory surgery centers, urgent care operations as well as emergency services, human resources, marketing, construction and real estate.

Before coming to HCA Houston Healthcare, Ray served as president of St. Vincent’s Birmingham and St. Vincent’s Chilton hospitals, a division of Ascension Health, in Birmingham, Alabama. In this position, he integrated and aligned physician enterprises, expanded care delivery centers, enhanced programs and provided oversight to all essential access points throughout the St. Vincent’s health system. His leadership expanded multiple service lines, improved patient care, strengthened physician engagement and enhanced emergency services. Ray began his career at St. Vincent’s Health System in 2012, serving as President of St. Vincent’s Blount and St. Vincent’s St. Clair hospitals. He launched several multi-campus hospital and service line expansions, developing physician alignment initiatives that enabled the expansion of quality offerings for the community.

Prior to joining St. Vincent’s Health System and Ascension Health, Ray served in Hospital Executive Leadership roles from 2005 – 2012 in Alabama, Iowa & South Carolina.

Ray earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from Mississippi State University, as well as master’s degrees in business administration and health administration from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. As associate member and fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Ray’s accomplishments have been recognized by the Birmingham Business Journal as a “Birmingham Healthcare Leader to Know” from 2012-2018. He was also an esteemed member of the Birmingham Business Journal's 2016 "Top 40 under 40." In Houston, Ray serves the community through participating at the board level for the American Heart Association and The Center for Houston's Future.

Jeffery L. Sliwinski

Jeffery Silwinski

Jeffery L. Sliwinski was appointed chief financial officer (CFO) of HCA Healthcare’s Gulf Coast Division and HCA Houston Healthcare in May 2012.

Sliwinski has held various financial roles in healthcare, having served as CFO at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas and controller of the HCA Healthcare’s Gulf Coast Division. His prior experience also includes financial positions at Baptist Memorial Healthcare System in Memphis, Tennessee and The Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, New York.

Sliwinski earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He serves on the Northern Brazoria County Education Alliance Board of Directors and is treasurer of the Pearland Independent School District Booster Club.

Mujtaba Ali-Khan, D.O.

Mujtaba Ali-Khan, D.O., was named chief medical officer (CMO) for HCA Healthcare's Gulf Coast Division and HCA Houston Healthcare in January 2020. In this role, Ali-Khan assumes oversight for clinical quality, safety, and high reliability across HCA Gulf Coast Division’s 16 hospitals. He works to advance our uncompromising commitment to quality care, patient safety, medical technology and developing programs that further cultivate quality improvement.

Previously, Ali-Khan served as the Associate Chief Medical Officer where he assisted with quality and patient safety agenda. He had primary responsibilities of HCA Healthcare Kingwood, North Cypress and Tomball with key personnel handling day-to-day operations.

Ali-Kahn joined the Gulf Coast Division in 2016 as HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe’s chief medical officer and later that year assumed the chief medical responsibilities of HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood.

Additionally, Ali-Khan previously served as vice president of Hospital DOCs, a medical practice offering hospitalist services to several regional hospitals. He also served as president of Streamlined Medical Solutions, a leading healthcare technology solutions provider. In these roles, Ali-Khan was instrumental in the development of DASH (Direct Admit System for Hospitals), a software solution that re-imagined the patient direct admission process, for which he obtained a patent. The software has since been adopted by hundreds of medical facilities.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in medical science from the University of Maryland, Ali-Khan completed his doctorate in osteopathic medicine training at NOVA Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by an internal medicine residency at the University of Miami – Jackson Memorial Hospital. Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Ali-Khan has practiced in a traditional internal medicine practice setting and as a hospitalist, earning the distinction of serving as a National Health Service Corps scholar.

Kelli Nations, DBA, MHA, BSN, RN, NE-BC

Chief Nursing Executive

Kelli Nations

In 2016, Kelli Nations was named the first chief nurse executive (CNE) of HCA Healthcare's Gulf Coast Division and HCA Houston Healthcare.

Nations’ role as CNE is to set a new standard of care for patients across the Greater Houston Area, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley. Through collaboration with HCA Healthcare teams across the country, as well as with local community leaders, Nations defines the roadmap to a better care experience managed by a compassionate, highly skilled nursing workforce. She was instrumental in the development of the $3.5 million gift to the University of Houston College of Nursing and drives all levels of care provider programs, from high school to graduate education.

Nations holds a Doctorate in Business Administration with a focus in Organizational Development from Northcentral University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Texas Woman’s University in Houston. She is certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Certified Nursing Executive.

Nations is proud to continue her commitment to improving the field of nursing through her participation on the following boards: March of Dimes, Good Samaritan Nursing Foundation and University of Houston College of Nursing advisory council.

With over 20 years of nursing experience with HCA Healthcare, Nations served as a nursing leader at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, Conroe, Southeast, and Mainland.
