The American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Texas Department of State Health Services have designated HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball as a Level III Trauma Center.
Recovery is greatly increased when a severely injured patient receives care at a designated trauma center within the first hour of injury, according to Eric Evans, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball.
The hospital's trauma program is staffed 24-hours a day by emergency medicine physicians and specially trained trauma nurses, as well as coverage by general surgeons and anesthesiologists.
HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball began its pursuit of level III trauma status in spring 2018 in response to the area's need for enhanced levels of comprehensive emergency service. As a designated Level III Trauma Center, the prompt, comprehensive critical care provided by the hospital not only benefits local residents, but also outlying areas as it now serves as a back-up care center for rural and community hospitals.
"We are proud to provide our community with quality trauma care, close to home, as a designated Level III Trauma Center," adds Evans. "The tremendous dedication our physicians, nurses and healthcare staff have shown as we developed the trauma program is a precursor to the life-saving care we will provide."
