More Houston babies are born in our hospitals than anywhere else.
Delivering over 30,000 babies each year at eight hospital locations, HCA Houston Healthcare is dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care during one of life's most momentous events.
Our hospitals have been recognized as 2020 recipients of the Healthgrades Labor and Delivery Excellence Award™ for superior clinical care of women during and after childbirth. Dedicated to elevating the standard of care for mother and babies, many of our hospitals have the Texas Ten Step designation, meaning our maternity care practices fully support breastfeeding. At these locations, mothers have access to lactation consultants and breastfeeding education to support breastfeeding and healthy bonding between mother and baby.
From prenatal to postpartum, our maternity services extend across more than 20 locations across the greater Houston area. In addition to our community hospital locations, our network includes The Woman's Hospital of Texas known as the first facility in Texas dedicated to the health of women and newborns. Prenatal care, midwifery, and maternal fetal medicine services are available at our Woman's Health and Women's Care Centers.
HCA Houston obstetric care services
Across all of our locations we support the bonding experience between mom and baby with skin-to-skin contact and rooming-in. HCA Houston is a strong supporter of patient education and offers a variety of classes, support groups, and tours to help women and their families prepare for pregnancy, birth and parenthood.
High-risk pregnancy care
Many of our locations offer comprehensive care for high risk pregnancies that require additional monitoring and support. A pregnancy may be considered high-risk for a variety of reasons including existing health conditions, maternal age, lifestyle, multiple pregnancy, and health issues that happen before or during pregnancy.
Our multidisciplinary teams are committed to helping you achieve the best possible outcomes and include maternal fetal medicine specialists and perinatal navigators. Select locations provide perinatal navigation programs that provide pregnant women identified as high-risk specialized support before, during, and after delivery. In the case of emergency, or if a higher level of maternal care is needed while receiving treatment, HCA Houston provides maternal transport by both ground and air to get mothers the care they need as quickly as possible.
Within our network, The Woman's Hospital of Texas offers the most comprehensive care in the Houston region for high-risk pregnancies, including Woman's Maternal Fetal Care Center, APU Unit, Maternal Assessment Center, Perinatal Diabetes Center, 24/7 emergency maternal-fetal transport care, and a Level IV NICU.
Neonatal care
We are dedicated to helping babies get home sooner. Across our family of hospitals, we provide intermediate and advanced neonatal care at our Level II and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU). We are able to provide our tiniest patients with the highest level of care available for newborns at our Level IV NICU located at The Woman's Hospital of Texas. This advanced care nursery has the equipment to care for the sickest of babies as well as access to a full range of healthcare providers, including pediatric subspecialists and specialized nurses. In the case that babies born at an HCA Houston hospital need to be transferred a higher level NICU, HCA Houston AirLIFE provides neonatal transport to get them safely there.
As a leading healthcare provider, we are committed to supporting the fight for the health of all moms and babies. We are proud of our 17-year partnership with the March of Dimes, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of mothers and babies, particularly those affected by prematurity, birth defects, or other infant health problems. At The Woman's Hospital of Texas, we are proud to provide the area's only NICU Family Support program with a full-time March of Dimes NICU family support program coordinator on site.
Prenatal care
Prenatal care services are provided at select centers to ensure that you and your baby receive the best treatment for a healthy pregnancy. At HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast's Women's Care Centers, board-certified nurse midwives and women's health nurse practitioners, consulting with board-certified physicians, provide prenatal care for low- to moderate-risk pregnancy in a clinical setting. Certified nurse midwives focus on support and education while providing expert midwifery care to pregnant patients. Located around the greater Houston area, our Woman's Health clinics allow expecting women to see their OB/GYN for routine prenatal and high risk pregnancy care while staying close to home.
