Minimally invasive surgery
Minimally invasive surgery is an effective surgical method that is less intrusive than traditional surgery. By using small incisions and instruments, we are able to create positive surgical outcomes that typically have minimal scarring, faster recovery times and shorter hospital stays.

Robotic surgery services
As with traditional surgery, in robotic surgery, the surgeon is always in control. The robot is used as an additional tool to allow your surgeon to perform complex and delicate procedures across a a variety of specialties, with more precision, flexibility and control.
Types of surgery we offer
Robotic surgery, also called robot-assisted surgery, is an advanced form of minimally invasive surgery where surgeons use a computer-controlled system to assist in surgical procedures. Within our network of care, we are proud to have hospital locations that are designated as Centers of Excellence in Robotic Surgery (COERS).
Many of our hospitals have also pioneered the use of this technology, with some being the first to perform a robotic peripheral lung biopsy in Northwest Houston. Additionally, we were the first in the North Cypress area to offer robotic partial knee resurfacing. In addition to these procedures, we offer robotic surgery in the following specialties:
- Cardiovascular surgery
- Colorectal surgery
- General surgery, including gallbladder and appendix removal
- Thoracic surgery
- Urological surgery
Gynecological surgery
We offer robotic gynecological surgery programs at all HCA Houston Healthcare locations. Our obstetric-gynecologists (OB/GYNs) have advanced training and experience using robotic systems to treat a wide range of gynecological conditions, such as cervical and uterine cancers, endometriosis, uterine fibroids and uterine prolapse. Our women's care programs offer robot-assisted surgery to perform hysterectomy, myomectomy and salpingectomy.
Orthopedic surgery
We offer robotic orthopedic surgery programs at seven HCA Houston locations across Greater Houston, including at Texas Orthopedic Hospital. These programs help our surgeons achieve optimal outcomes when performing orthopedic surgeries, such as total and partial joint replacement surgery, hip replacement surgery, thoracic and lumbar spine surgeries, as well as joint resurfacing surgery.
Spine surgery
With the latest systems in neurosurgical technology, we provide robot-assisted neuro-spine surgeries when you need it most. Our surgeons perform minimally invasive spinal surgery and other procedures to address particular neurological conditions in a safer, faster and more effective way.
Surgical oncology
Within our network, we offer robot-assisted surgical treatments to treat many types of cancers, including colorectal, esophageal, lung, pancreatic, prostate and thyroid.
As part of our services, we also offer robotic bronchoscopy or minimally invasive lung biopsy. The robot-assisted bronchoscopy helps improve the early detection of lung cancer by enhancing access to hard-to-reach areas of the lungs.
Weight loss surgery
Our nationally accredited Redefine Clinical Weight Loss Programs provide minimally invasive approaches to bariatric (weight loss) surgery. This includes robot-assisted approaches to gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy procedures for eligible bariatric surgery candidates.
