Tomball names Michael D'Souza as new chief operating officer
Before joining HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball, D'Souza worked at HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division (GCD) for five years in leadership roles with a focus on surgical services, quality, and patient safety.
HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball is pleased to announce the promotion of Michael D’Souza to the role of chief operating officer, effective February 2.
D’Souza joined the HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball Family in August 2023 as the vice president of operations and co-ethics and compliance officer. He quickly impacted staffing and operational efficiency as the executive lead over Medical Staff Services, Therapy Services, Laboratory Services, Environmental Services, Food and Nutritional Services and Texas Sports Medicine Center. Additionally, he managed offsite acquisitions and operations, while driving physician experience, colleague engagement, and care experience, with measurable improvements quarter over quarter.
Before joining HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball, D’Souza worked at HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division (GCD) for five years in leadership roles with a focus on surgical services, quality, and patient safety. His contributions to safety and quality initiatives led to improved techniques in pre-admission testing and pre-operative surgical services. He was also instrumental in developing clinical playbooks for COVID-19 management and successfully led the division’s first Quality University program.
“I am excited to recognize Michael’s dedication, enthusiastic drive and leadership with this promotion,” said Rob Marmerstein, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball. “Michael has consistently demonstrated confidence and efficiency in overseeing hospital operations and I look forward to celebrating his continued successes at HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball.”
D’Souza obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Health Administration from Saint Louis University, as well as his Juris Doctor from Creighton University School of Law.
